In business since the '70s in a strip mall on Bird Road, Beehive Natural Foods could be considered the Honey Tree of the South - it's a quaint, unassuming health food store with a kick-ass lunch counter in the back. The dishes are made fresh daily, all vegetarian, mostly vegan and often macrobiotically-friendly too. They're open 10am to 7pm Monday through Saturday but word is that the lunch usually doesn't start 'til around 1pm. Over the years I've had all sorts of meatless delights there - heaping plates of beans and brown rice, seitan/tofu empanadas, tasty soups - yet the best thing about eating here is that everything they serve is just super-duper good for you. The "ambiance" of this tiny lunch spot may be a bit off-putting to people not used to crunchy veggie hangouts but they'll get over it once they visit a time or two. The counter only has a small handful of stools and there are just a few plastic tables outside so the bulk of their business seems to be take-out. I MUST now mention that one of the best items they offer is frozen banana custard, in which they put frozen bananas into this magical machine and it comes out as smooth, creamy, banana soft-serve goodness! They can even add cashews, cinnamon, acai or other fruit to it and it's freakin' delicious and hard to believe that there's no dairy or anything else involved. I'm *this* close to getting one of those machines for my apartment... Of course they also make fresh juices and smoothies, so if you're cruising on Bird and are despairing over all the fast food and steak houses, make a bee-line to Beehive, a local veggie oasis.

Friends of the animals PLEASE help spread the word if anything at all as this is going to take a ton of money, therefore a world of animals lovers finding out about it and donating. If every person we contacted by cross posting and emailing donated 5.00 it could add up in hours to thousands!!! These pigs need us and we can move mountains for them being a part of this team effort. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE CROSS POST
Please click on the link below for complete update on all the pigs at Pig Tales Sanctuary in Bunnell FL.
All pigs are being and will be cared for by HSUS with the help of several larger organizations now coming on board.
Many false rumors or partially distorted versions are going around. None have tested positive to PRV or Brucellosis. John has been sending some funds to help with his but not enough. At least he has sent some. Many pigs were already dead when Flagler AC got there. Only a few had to be put down. Some were shot with one bullet to the brain under vet supervision and 3 through euthanasia process. At this time only a chosen few people are allowed in but by the beginning of the week more volunteers will be going in to help with the care and clean up of their areas. Well has been fixed so they now have clean water and they have been moved to a cleaner area and fed twice a day. Non have died since they have taken over. They are working with all the pigs under the laws of FL and with the State vet office in Tallahassee. Homes and finances are being sought after so that none will have to be put down but if they are, it will be those who are deemed unfit for travel of any kind.
Each of us can help by sending funds to Flagler AC (address on page) or via www.paypal.com to rescue@farec.org and we will forward a check on to them. Every dollar will make a difference in their lives. Mark it for Flagler Pigs. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact Donna or myself. This is a staggering number of pigs to rescue and we can only accomplish this through working together to make it happen. So lets pull together and help. Get out the old checkbook and dust it off. If you live close, please offer to volunteer a day. They need help with fencing and so forth. If you can adopt a couple or even one, please let us know. If you can help transport, let us know. Everyone of us will have to pull together to make this work.

Hi! I didn't know where to leave a suggestion...So here it goes: there is a sweet little hole in the wall in the grove called The Last Carrot. I have no affiliation with them, I'm just a satisfied customer. Their website: http://www.lastcarrot.com/
It's definitely worth a try!
