The restaurant itself had a lovely little Jamaican feel with soft smells of incents and freshly made food in the air. I spent nearly $11 so that I could sample the full selection offered that day. I had baked tofu in a red sauce. The tofu itself was firm and had a nice constancy, however the sauce was very mild and really didn’t spark my taste buds in one way or another. The curry chicken was unremarkable, bland and was comprised of a curry sauce and the fake chicken with no support from say fried onions, carrots or anything else resulting in an overall sad appearance and lack luster taste. The steam mixed vegetables where pleasant enough but again lacked any kind of real flavor. The rice and bean along with steamed beet and sweet plantains were acceptable but nothing to write home about. Overall, I am a good vegetarian cook and when I can cook better than the restaurant I’m visiting, I’m disappointed. Color me disappointed. <br />Being a vegetarian doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice GREAT taste! I had dinner, they were serving duck that night and curry tofu. I ate all of my food and the plate was packed with food. They also had this celery iced tea that was so good. The food here is as excellent as it is abundant. I have never been a fan of steamed vegetables, yet they even managed to make those delicious. Add to that a perfectly spiced seiten steak, a hearty portion of beans and rice, a very fresh salad and quite possibly the tastiest pea soup I have ever had and you have one hell of a lunch.
